Month: April 2012

So I’m at “Bark for Life” on Saturday, just chatting with friends before the day’s activities began.  Out of the corner of my eye I saw this adorable cockapoo and commented to my friends about how cute he was.  In a split second I then realized that the adorable cockapoo was my friend Amy’s dog, “Ozzy”, who I photographed last Fall.  I think the giveaway was that Amy was at the other end of the leash!  🙂  Of course I then ran over to visit with them and give Ozzy a big hug!  He’s just a little over one year old now and still full of puppy energy!  Later in the day, Amy and Ozzy participated in the contests – best kisser and best trick.  Ozzy rolled over and gave Amy a high five in the tricks contest….but he wouldn’t kiss the event leader!   He’s such a cutie-pie, isn’t he?

Here’s one of the pups I met at yesterday’s “Bark for Life” event!  This dog reminds me so much of the sweet cocker spaniel that I had when I was little!  I love the black and tan coloring and wavy fur on the ears!  So stinkin’ cute!!!

I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than with my most favorite dog EVER – Colored Bull Terrier Rufus [Champion Rocky Tops Sundance Kid, ROM, CGC, ThD]!  Rufus and his family – Barb and Tom Bishop – were so kind to drive from New Jersey for an appearance in support of Bark for Life – a canine event to benefit The American Cancer Society.  It was a wonderful day – filled with wagging tails, heartwarming stories, educational presentations, nice weather, and good friends who all came out to the event with their 4-legged friends!  Thank you Barb, Tom and Rufus for helping to make this event a success!  [The blog image is a photo of me and Rufus relaxing in the park at the end of the day!]

“Note to doggie self…she keeps the yummy treats in her right pocket!  Can I have one now please?”

Leonbergers love children….and children love Leonbergers!  They are a gentle and calm breed that makes a wonderful family pet!  Be aware, however, there is a little shedding involved!  Okay, maybe a lot of shedding!  Buy a good vacuum if you are planning to bring home a Leonberger!
