I love everything about this image!  The dog’s expression, the way the handler is touching his/her tail, the angle of the composition, and the gray and green muted colors throughout the scene.  Weimaraners are nicknamed the “grey ghost” because of the distinctive grey color of their coat.  This image is from the Lebanon County Kennel Club show in Harrisburg in April.  What a beautiful dog!  This is my new favorite image!

Every time I drive on this one particular road, to this one particular store, I pass these old trucks parked in a dirt lot by a barn.  Over the weekend I was headed in that direction and decided it was high time that I stopped and snapped a photo or two.  Worried that I was tresspassing [which I’m sure I was!], I didn’t stay long and only took a few shots, but am happy with this one of a rusty old Ford.  I’ll get back to dog photos tomorrow, but I just wanted to share this example of another type of photography that I love in addition to photographing pets!  Old rusty things are a favorite!

With all of the rain that we’ve had lately, the grass, flowers & weeds are growing like crazy.  Late last week, however, I noticed that there were LESS weeds than usual.  Hmmm…..how could that be?  Then on Sunday I saw the culprit!  This cute groundhog – who apparently lives on the side of my house – has been munching on all of my plants.  When I saw him I tapped on the window and the first and second times I did that, he ran off.  Then he got brave and just climbed up on the rock pile and stared at me…a tad bit defiantly I might add.  I decided that I can’t win, so I might as well just photograph the little devil!  Here he is sitting on the rocks with some pretty purple flowers down in front.  Below….he’s EATING the purple flowers!  I will no longer have to do any weeding in my garden, but I also won’t have any flowers!   I enjoy watching his antics as he mows down anything that’s edible…he’s a hungry little groundhog!

As we celebrate this Memorial Day, remember that today is not about barbecues and fireworks.  The day is meant for honoring all of the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.  My dad was a Marine during World War II and I will never ever forget the stories that he told me about the tragedy he witnessed and the pain and suffering he endured to help keep America free.  God bless all who serve our country!

Congratulations to Australian Cattle Dog Hedi [Ch. Gems Cool Blue Diva], her handlers Jack and Courtney, and her mom Sally!  Hedi earned her championship points this weekend at the Trumbull County Kennel Club show in New Castle, Pa.   Way to go Team Hedi!
