Jewel_2012

This is American Foxhound, Jewel, [GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box], who competed for Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York City earlier this month.  I had the pleasure of watching Jewel and handler Lisa Miller several times last year and they never disappoint.  This image is from the Mid-Susquehanna Kennel Club show in Middleburg, Pa. last summer.  Looking forward to seeing Jewel in the ring again this year!

I was at the park to photograph snow geese, but the snow geese were no where to be found.  So I turned my lens to other interesting things that I happened to see, like the clothing worn by these young girls.  Florals, stripes, solids, and yes, sneakers!  So cute!

A man and woman are walking their dog in the park.  Mom and the kids spot the dog and instantly the little ones ask if they can go and see the puppy!  Of course the dog loves the attention from so many little hands and there are plenty of smiles and giggles to go around!  Instantly they are all best friends!

The life of a show dog includes a lot of touching by handlers and judges!  99.99% of them don’t mind, but every now and then a newbie to the show ring fusses when the judge approaches.  This sweet Havanese was one of the 99.99%!

I distinctly remember taking this image.  It was at the Bucks County Kennel Club show in 2012.  I was waiting to photograph the German Shorthaired Pointers and I was standing underneath one of the big tents.  There are usually quite a few GSP’s entered in the shows and this day was no exception.  While I was waiting, I spotted this pup looking away from the ring and standing a little bit away from the crowd of people and dogs.  I loved that the crate and water bucket are in the background as it adds a nice pattern to the image.  I can’t remember exactly, but this may have been the pup that did his business on his handler’s foot and they had to go back to the grooming area for a little clean up before going into the ring!  🙂
