Month: November 2010

I’ve always enjoyed knitting and crocheting – especially during the winter months when I spend more time indoors.  I found a crochet pattern for a doggie bandana and decided I’d give it a whirl.  Sebastian was my fit model!  I didn’t adjust the pattern at all, and since it’s designed for dogs, it’s a bit big for him.  At least this was one crochet project that I finished …. I mostly start projects and then take forever to get back to them.

It was fairly early on Saturday morning and we were making our way along a country road in Lancaster County, Pa.  Off to our left we caught a glimpse of this scene and the immediate reaction was, “Holy cow…look at that reflection!”  We quickly found a place to park and made our way over to the side of the road where we could hop over the guardrail and set up our tripods.  Not a breeze was blowing and the reflected buildings and trees were crystal clear in the water.  We were lucky enough to meet the owner of the farm who graciously allowed us to come onto the property and photograph a little more.  One point of interest was a clothesline filled with colorful print dresses hanging on the porch of the house.  As it turned out there were 8 children in this family – all of them girls.  I met several of them and we chatted about their pets [naturally!].  They have a cute Pomeranian named Panda and an orange tabby named Sunny.  I photographed Panda, but my memory card was full and my others were back in the car, so Sunny didn’t get to be a model.  She would have been a great one!   Hopefully we will be able to go back here again….maybe after a snowfall.  That would be a beautiful spot for winter photography!  To see more images from our trek through Lancaster County, go to:

Tell me the truth….do I look like ET?  Maybe just a little?!

It’s important for dogs to stay cool – particularly in the hot summer months – both indoors and out.  Many times I see handlers placing cooling towels like this on the dogs at the shows – it must feel so refreshing!  Ahhhh….!

It’s only mid-November and I’m already missing the outdoor dog shows.  This image was taken at the Devon show in October.   I have a feeling that it would be big-time hard to ignore this Corgi when he wants to get your attention for a treat, a walk, a belly rub, etc.  How could anyone resist this face and that adorable pose?  He has pretty good balance for having super short legs, doesn’t he?

I spent the day photographing with friends in Lancaster County, Pa. – one of my very favorite places!  We traveled the winding country roads, met some warm and friendly people, a few not so warm and friendly people (!), and came home with some interesting images that depict the lifestyle and landscape of the area.  This is one of the last images of the day.  We were winding our way back and saw this team of horses coming toward us in the field.  We pulled to the side of the road, rolled down the windows and started photographing.   As expected, I have a series of images as the horses got closer and closer.  This was the last one…just before they came out onto the road and clip clopped along behind our car.  A nice end to a very fun day!
