Job Wanted: Part-Time Leash Holder

I am always so happy when someone asks me to hold their dog’s leash!  First off, it tells me that they trust me with their faithful companion and I feel very honored for that!  Secondly, since I don’t have a dog of my own, I love having the opportunity to feel like I do….even for a minute or two!  Last month I got to hold Rufus’ leash at Bark for Life and this month, two dogs at different shows.  The first was a Great Dane that I was asked to hold the leash for while the dog’s owner cleaned up after the dog had used the “restroom”.  The woman was picking up from the grass and going to a garbage can and the whole time I was holding the Dane’s leash for her, he was “galloping” and trying to get over to where his mamma was.  That was A LOT of dog to hold, let me tell you!  It took both hands and some calming words to keep me from being dragged across the grass!  This woman was wrangling 2 Danes and a grooming tool bag – I admire her strength!  Last weekend I held the leash of the dog in the blog image…an English Toy Spaniel.  Definitely more my size!  This pup was sitting on a grooming table while his or her handler was in the ring with another dog.  We watched from the sidelines while I scratched his/her ears and then I had to return the leash to the handler.  If anyone is looking for a part-time leash holder, I am a very willing and capable job candidate!  [Oh and for payment, just a doggie kiss will do!]   🙂
