If I were to do a mini-series featuring photos of  “favorite dog ears”, the Corgi would definitely be included!  Are these not the best ears ever?  I think this little guy can pick up satellite radio with those big ears!  Oh and don’t try and whisper the word “w-a-l-k” when he’s around because he’s going to hear every syllable!  🙂  This is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is the breed without a tail.  The other Corgi breed is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and they DO have a tail.  Both are members of the Herding Group.  For a while I couldn’t remember which was which, but I came up with a goofy way to remember.  I always think about the Pembroke Welsh Corgi as being “broken” because they don’t have a tail.  Thus, the Pem”broke” Welsh Corgi is the tail-less breed!  Hey, it works for me and now I never forget!

Just like in this image, I sometimes feel like I’m going in two [or more!] directions at once!  I like how the dog’s body appears to be facing “west” while his head is looking toward the “east”!  Sometimes as I’m reviewing my images from a particular day, certain photos just pop out at me right from the start.  This was one of those images.  I liked it from the moment I shot it.  Other times I may overlook a really great photo and “find” it months later.  That’s why I rarely toss images that don’t appeal to me at first.  Later they may be exactly what I’m looking for on a particular day!  I’m making the external hard drive folks very profitable because I always need more storage space for the hoards of images that I keep!

Best in Show was just awarded and I was walking back to the car at the Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club show on Saturday.  I saw this little girl approaching the Collie and offering a treat.  In a split second I took 2 or 3 shots [my camera shoots 8 images per second!] and this is my favorite.  What a special moment between this adorable little girl and the gorgeous Collie.  A wider angle lens would have resulted in more of the little girl being in the scene but at 70mm this was the best I could do on short notice!  After filling two 16 GB memory cards with images over the course of the day, it is the last shot on the way home that is the most special!  You just never know when magic will happen!

She’s probably got her other eye on me, too, but you just can’t see it beneath the fur!  How well do dogs see when they have hair over their eyes anyway?

I love jewelry, so I’m always noticing the pretty bracelets, necklaces and pins that the owners and handlers wear at dog shows.  Many of their pieces have charms or pendants featuring their favorite breed.  This woman has 2 pretty charm bracelets and the third “bracelet” is actually the dog’s lead.  It does blend in with the others nicely, though, doesn’t it?  I love this dog’s expressive eyes!
