This Basset Hound is enjoying a scratch under the chin at the Penn Ridge Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa. this past summer!  Oooh yeah, a little more to the left please!

The correct answer from yesterday’s “tail” photo is the Irish Red & White Setter.  Mary Johnson – you are correct!!  I just “met” this breed for the first time at the Penn Ridge Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa. in August.  They are gorgeous!  This is a totally different breed than the Irish Setter  – not just a different color.  They have been known in Ireland since the 17th century but were almost extinct by the 19th century.  Strong efforts to bring them back resulted in the breed reemerging in Ireland in the 1940’s.  The Irish Red & White Setter was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 2009.

This is the tail of a beautiful dog – can you identify the breed?  Take a guess and I’ll post the answer tomorrow!

“Are you taking my picture?  Okay, I’ll give you my best Aussie smile!”

Pucker up….I feel a kiss coming on!
