I love Boxers with natural ears like this one that I photographed at the Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club show earlier this month.  I’m sure there are many folks that will offer a great argument about valid reasons for doing so, but I’m not a big fan of ear cropping, tail docking, debarking and all of the other things done to “improve” the look or behavior of a dog.  I have the same attitude toward cats and so declawing is not an option in my home.  I love them all “just the way they are” so to speak!  John O’Hurley wrote a wonderful poem that he recited at last year’s National Dog Show.  I included an excerpt in my image above, but it you are interested, you can go here http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/the-scene/events/Perfect-Dog-Poem-John-OHurley-National-Dog-Show-179727111.html to read the entire poem.

One of the challenges at an outdoor summer dog show is capturing photos of the dogs with their mouths closed.  On hot days, it’s next to impossible!  I love this Sheltie photo with just a hint of those cute little teethies showing at the Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club Show a couple weekends ago.  The temperatures were in the mid-90’s and it was hot, hot, HOT!  Wishing for cooler temperatures for all of the upcoming shows this weekend!  Best of luck to everyone who is showing!

There are models, and then there are super models!  I specifically remember taking this photo at the Bucks County Kennel Club show last month.  I was wandering through the tents and the West Highland White Terriers were being groomed and getting ready to show.  This little pup saw me coming with the camera, sat up perfectly straight on the grooming table, looked right at me and almost begged to have his/her photo taken!  The owner said that he or she is a real ham!  How could I resist?

Sprite

Ahhh….the elusive Sprite!  I’ve been meaning to photograph this little pup for a while and finally the planets aligned last weekend at the Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club Show in Wrightstown, Pa.  What a cutie-patootie!!

These two pups are best buddies and were running just as fast as their short little legs would take them in the direction of the vendors at “Paw Prints on the Canal” over the weekend!  This event had lots of fun activities and booths with great items for both pets and pet parents!  Don’t you just love their flying ears?  Especially on the little Doxie!  You can tell that they were really moving!  I just love the happy expressions on their sweet faces!
