Dock jumping dogs are so much fun to watch AND photograph.  The “Big Air” competition is the long jump equivalent for canine athletes.  Dogs run and jump off the end of a 40 foot dock into the water to retrieve their favorite toy.  The distance is measured from the end of the dock to where the base of the dog’s tail breaks the water.  According to the Keystone Dock Dogs website, the current world records are 29′ 3″ for indoor and 31′ 0″ for outdoor.  I’m not sure what the distance was for this dog, but you can see the numbers 22′ and 23′ along the edge of the pool in the background.  I love the splash of water in this image and the look of determination on the pup’s face!
