The National Dog Show Presented by Purina is one of only a few benched shows in the country.  A benched show requires that all entered dogs remain in their designated benching area when not in the ring, being exercised or groomed for the duration of the show.  This allows other participants and spectators to visit with the dogs, owners and handlers.  The National Dog Show is a perfect example of how a spectator-friendly show allows visitors to learn about different breeds and see how they might fit into their family should they decide to bring a new furry friend into their lives.  These two Powder Puff Chinese Crested pups were hamming it up for the camera and their many new fans!

Look closely … all four paws are off the ground in this movement image of Bearded Collie, “Zack” (Ch Dunhill Steeler Nation), at The National Dog Show on Saturday.  I love it!

My favorite dog show to attend all year long is The National Dog Show Presented by Purina.  It was held this past weekend at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.  Saturday’s group and Best in Show judging was taped and will be broadcast on NBC Thanksgiving Day immediately following the Macy’s Parade.  Of course I can’t divulge the Best in Show winner, but rest assured it was a great line up and very exciting for all involved.  I have 4,271 images to review from Saturday and Sunday, so if your dog was at the show, drop me a note and I’ll see if I have any photos!  This image is from Sunday’s group judging.  I had a great ringside vantage point for photographing as you can see in the image below taken by Cathy Sadler….

Who wants to kiss this pup to see if that claim is true?   🙂
