Three Butterflies

The word Papillon means butterfly in French.  These toy dogs have long fringed hair on their ears which resembles a butterfly, thus the name Papillon.  There is also a drop-ear variety, known as Phalene, which means “moth” in French.  One litter can have both varieties and they are shown together as one breed.  These little dogs are always parti-color or white with patches of other colors.  These 3 little butterflies were finished showing for the day and were sitting on the sidelines watching the group judging at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club Dog Show last month.  Aren’t they cute?

I believe that is my Mojo on the right. GCH Betlen Riegel The Magic Touch.
I’m pretty sure the one on the left is my friend’s boy, Julian. Not positive about the third one.

Great to put names to those furry little faces Nancy! Thanks for commenting! This image was taken in Allentown, Pa. last December. What adorable Papillons!

OMG! I remember the day! The one w/ “half-mast ears” IS Julian (Jinka’s Eye Catcher) & River (one of Colleen Kirby’s pups) in my arms w/; Mojo in front. Those three sure look adorable! They were rooting for another of Colleen’s dogs (Miracol’s Fire When Ready, aka “Remy”) in the group ring. River has since been placed in a wonderful pet home.

I sent the link to the owner of the other two and confirmed that it is Julian, and the darker faced one with the narrow blaze is River.

Thanks for telling the story of the day Donna and Nancy! These 3 pups look like best friends having fun together! I remember that this image was taken during group judging and the table where they were sitting was on the far end of the ring. I hope I’ll run into you at a future dog show!
