Dressed to Impress

As a spectator, I always feel underdressed at dog shows.  The handlers showing the dogs in the ring are always dressed beautifully — men wearing suits and ties and women wearing dresses, skirts and sweaters, or pants outfits.  I always admire the well dressed handler who not only takes care to groom their dog perfectly, but also to ensure that they look their best as well.  From what I’ve read, the handler is to dress so as NOT to draw attention away from the dog.  The judge’s eyes should be on the dog…not the handler’s flashy outfit.  One thing that always catches my attention is the shoes worn by the women handlers.  Since they are trotting around a show ring with their dog, they must wear shoes that are comfortable and that protect them from slipping.  Leather soles, sandals, and stiletto heels are probably out!  🙂  Still, it’s often quite a contrast to see a woman in a beautiful suit and then wearing shoes that are not so much attractive as practical.  I love it when cute practical shoes are incorporated into the outfit…like in the blog image!   Yay for cute shoes!   Yes, your shoes can be comfy, safe and cute all at the same time!
