Last time I visited Eckley, Pa., many of the historic homes had pretty cotton quilts hanging from the windowsills. I’m not sure if they were being dried or if the quilt is a sign of welcome to guests…or…maybe they were there for a completely different reason. I have no idea, but they brought some color to the otherwise monotone look of the wooden buildings.

I loved the view of the ocean, beach and boardwalk from beneath this pier in Atlantic City, NJ. Apparently so did this couple as they stopped to take a few photos!

Just across the Boardwalk from one another in Atlantic City are the sleek and elegant Rebel Hotel and Casino and the Atlantic City Historical Museum. The Rebel is 47 stories of glass and modern architecture with what looks like a giant golf ball on the roof. The Historical Museum, located on Garden Pier, is very quaint, and has a terracotta tile roof. They couldn’t be more different! I loved looking for ways to photograph the contrast.

Massachusetts Avenue & The Boardwalk. What fond memories! That was the address of Beach Front Gardens, the motel where my family stayed during summer vacations at the shore. Long gone, that location is now the home of the recently closed Revel Hotel and Casino. What a grand structure! It has 1,399 ocean view rooms and is 47 stories tall. The architecture is a delight to photograph. I could have stayed there all day finding new angles and patterns, however, the sea was calling to me…………
