This weekend I participated in Relay for Life – a 24 hour event to benefit The American Cancer Society. A highlight is the Luminaria ceremony where hundreds of decorated bags line the track to honor or remember those who have won or lost their battle with cancer. A candle is placed inside each bag and when they are all illuminated after dark it is very moving. In the above photo, a Relay participant and their dog walk and look for bags honoring loved ones. I’m so happy to be a part of Relay each year. Please look for a Relay for Life event in your area and take part.

The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum recently had a History Expo that included a Civil War encampment. This image depicts the typical items carried by a soldier during the Civil War. I wouldn’t make a very good soldier…..traveling “light” isn’t one of my strong points. Just ask my friends at work … I carry way too much stuff in to work each day that I “just can’t live without”! Oh and my camera bag [which is on wheels!] is now so heavy that I can’t even lift it. Every lens and filter tends to go with me everywhere….”just in case”! 🙂
