I love things that remind me of favorite places. For example, every time I see a seagull, I think of fun times spent at the beach when I was a kid. When I see a windmill, I think of long drives in the country. I don’t live anywhere near the beach, but I do live near the countryside that is dotted with pretty white barns, silos, and yes, windmills. This scene is from Lancaster County, Pa. – one of my favorite areas to visit. I will never tire of seeing the horse & buggies clip clop along the long winding country roads.

This little girl was adorable with her blond pigtails and flowered dress at The Kutztown Folk Festival. I always feel uncomfortable photographing people unless I ask their permission first. Quite often I will photograph from the side or back so that they remain unrecognizable. Then I feel more at ease if I decide to post the image on my blog or website. I processed this one as a painting which I find is a nice compliment to my love of images in soft focus.
