On deck waiting for their turn to meet the judge at the Westchester Kennel Club show earlier this month is Portugese Podengo Pequenos, “Ketka’s Benchmark Pendragon” and handler.  This breed is a National Dog of Portugal and first came to the United States in the 1990’s. They are bred for hunting by sight, scent and hearing and are very energetic and intelligent.  Cute as can be, too!

I could watch Afghan Hounds go around the ring allllll day long!  They are so elegant and graceful!  This is “GCH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles” who won a Group 3 in the Hound Group Saturday at the Mid-Susquehanna Kennel Club show in Middleburg, Pa.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of my friends in the dog show world for allowing me to photograph their wonderful dogs!  I’m having the best time!  Plus, I have made great friends along the way who I will cherish forever!  It means so much that you have accepted me into your world even though I know so little about breed standards and dog showing (but I’m learning!!!).  This image is from the Penn Ridge Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa. a couple weeks ago.  Each time I go to a show in Harrisburg I meet up with a friend who adores Basset Hounds.  We generally sit together to watch Groups and Best in Show and chat away the hours while we cheer on our favorite breeds!  It’s so much fun!  Looking forward to seeing all of my friends in the next couple of months as unfortunately the dog show ‘season’ winds down for the year!

You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve said “This is my favorite group!” when I’m at a show and then the next group enters the ring and I think, “No, THIS is my favorite group!”  Okay, so I love them all and I’ll never be able to select a very favorite!  I don’t believe I’ve ever posted a photo of this breed before.  This is a Black and Tan Coonhound.  Just look at those soulful eyes and long floppy ears.  How could you not fall in love?
