National Dog Show Presented by Purina 2013

I LOVE this image from The National Dog Show Presented by Purina.  If only all of my dog photography images could have such simple composition and clean lines!  I love the gentle way that the handler is holding the lead and the focus of the dog’s attention on the bait in her right hand.  The Boston Terrier is not a member of the Terrier Group, as you might think, but is instead a member of the Non-Sporting Group.  They are nicknamed “The American Gentleman” because they are truly an All-American breed (originating in Boston, Massachusetts) that has a gentle personality and dapper appearance.  Don’t forget to tune in to The National Dog Show Presented by Purina on NBC immediately following the Macy’s Parade on Thanksgiving Day.

Sometimes the choice for composing an image isn’t landscape or portrait layout, but somewhere in between.  I love taking shots at different angles.  Who says you have to pay attention to rules in photography???

What could be better than bundling up in your favorite sweatshirt when the weather starts to turn a little cooler?
Okay, maybe bundling up in a sweatshirt while drinking a cup of hot cocoa (or snacking on your favorite doggie treat!).

Thank you ever so much to the vendor who put a drape over their booth at the end of the day on Saturday which resulted in this pretty burgundy background for my Group photos at the Penn Ridge Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa.  🙂  I love, love, LOVE this dog and the breed is in my top 3 if I were ever to add a canine member to my family.  (I think Brewster and Savannah would put up a serious protest!)  This is Tenzin, a Tibetan Spaniel handled beautifully by Diego Garcia.  Tenzin came away with a Group 1 and was in a beautiful line-up for Best in Show under Judge Peter Green.

Love this image of the Chinese Shar-Pei admiring the ribbon he or she won at the Twin Brooks Kennel Club show in Morristown, NJ last weekend!   Do you think your show dog knows when he or she has won a ribbon?
