Congratulations to the Bloodhound, “Nathan” (GCH Flessner’s International S’cess), on winning Best in Show at the 2014 National Dog Show Presented by Purina. He is such a playful pup! Nathan was schmoozing with the judge at every opportunity and the crowd loved him! FYI….the show will be re-broadcast on Saturday night, 11/29/14, at 8:00 PM on NBC.

Who needs football and turkey when there are DOGS on Thanksgiving? Tune in to NBC at noon today (immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade) and watch The National Dog Show Presented by Purina. 2,000 of the greatest dogs in the country came together in Oaks, Pa. two weekends ago, all vying for Best in Show. Watch as the best dog of each breed competes in group competition (herding, working, toy, hound, terrier, sporting, and non-sporting) and meet two new breeds – the Coton de Tulear and the Wire Haired Vizsla. Who will win Best in Show? Join John O’Hurley and David Frei for all of the action and find out!

This was one of those scenes that I came upon at The National Dog Show Presented by Purina and the second I snapped the photo I thought to myself, “Yep, that’s a keeper!” This image just exudes pure joy!

The National Dog Show Presented by Purina is one of only a few benched shows in the country. A benched show requires that all entered dogs remain in their designated benching area when not in the ring, being exercised or groomed for the duration of the show. This allows other participants and spectators to visit with the dogs, owners and handlers. The National Dog Show is a perfect example of how a spectator-friendly show allows visitors to learn about different breeds and see how they might fit into their family should they decide to bring a new furry friend into their lives. These two Powder Puff Chinese Crested pups were hamming it up for the camera and their many new fans!
