Thank you ever so much to the vendor who put a drape over their booth at the end of the day on Saturday which resulted in this pretty burgundy background for my Group photos at the Penn Ridge Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa.  🙂  I love, love, LOVE this dog and the breed is in my top 3 if I were ever to add a canine member to my family.  (I think Brewster and Savannah would put up a serious protest!)  This is Tenzin, a Tibetan Spaniel handled beautifully by Diego Garcia.  Tenzin came away with a Group 1 and was in a beautiful line-up for Best in Show under Judge Peter Green.

Do you know this breed?  The title of this post is a hint!  If you guessed Australian Shepherd, you’re close, but not quite right.  This is a Miniature American Shepherd – a small, athletic herding dog that originated in the United States.  They were recognized by the AKC in June 2012 as a new developing breed and are now shown in the Miscellaneous Class at shows.  Miniature American Shepherds are loyal companions and working dogs with what is called a “watchful expression”.

This is Sealyham Terrier Nicholas, “Ch Efbe’s Thunder Rd at Burberry”.  Nicholas is a grandson of the well-known Charmin, who is the top winning Sealyham Terrier of all time.  I just love the dark fur around Nicholas’ eye!   Here he is with Margery Good at the Bucks County Kennel Club show in Erwinna, Pa. back in May.

I don’t believe that I’ve ever posted a photo of a Brussels Griffon on the blog before, so today is a first!  What took so long?  I have no idea!  I’m going to make a point of posting some breeds that I haven’t in the past so stay tuned and see how many you recognize.  The Brussels Griffon is a toy breed, weighing 8-10 pounds.  They can have a rough or smooth coat and colors come in red, black & tan, belge (black and reddish brown) and black.  They were developed in Belgium in the 1800’s and kept as ratters in the stables.  Now they are affectionate companion and watch dogs.

Here’s an ad I designed for Rita, “Cabin Ridge’s Mega Margarita”, after she won Best Veteran at the Bryn Mawr Kennel Club show in Ludwig’s Corner, Pa. in June.  This ad was published in the July 2013 issue of The Canine Chronicle (see page 368) and features one of the images that I took of Rita in the ring before her big win!  Such a pretty girl!
