I spent two fun-filled days at the Hatboro and Devon dog shows over the weekend! The shows had it all — sun, clouds, rain, wind, drama, excitement, old friends, new friends, wonderful dogs, and a couple thousand photos to review! Here’s a favorite shot from Devon on Saturday….alone in the ring.

I have so many places that I want to photograph, but I’m always waiting for a nice bright overcast day. Unfortunately, this summer has had very few days without sun. The light at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club show on Saturday morning was wonderful. No sun glare, no intense shadows … just nice even light for photographing the dogs. I love the sweet expression of this Irish Red & White Setter. This is one of my favorite shots of the day!

This was perfect outdoor dog show photography weather….bright overcast and no sun! You might just say that it was ‘picture perfect’! Happy Friday everyone!

I was looking for an image to post from last weekend’s dog show and I kept coming back to this one. It was taken the second before the judge put his hands on the dog for the first time. I could have named this image “anticipation”….the handler is presenting the dog and I am sure hoping that he/she will be selected; the dog is anticipating being petted by the judge and maybe receiving a “good dog” treat afterward; and the judge is evaluating the dog against the standard for the breed. I really love this image!

Congratulations to German Shorthaired Pointer, Scarlet, (GCh./BIS/MBISS Skypoints Our River Runs Free) – Best of Opposite at the GSPCA National this weekend in Harrisburg, Pa.!! Scarlet is one of my all-time favorite dogs and it was a thrill to watch her compete at the National with handler Laura Kieffer.
