Tune in to NBC at noon today (immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade) and watch The National Dog Show Presented by Purina. 2,000 of the greatest dogs in the country came together in Oaks, Pa. two weekends ago, all vying for Best in Show. Watch as the best dog of each breed competes in group competition (herding, working, toy, hound, terrier, sporting, and non-sporting) and meet two new breeds – the Coton de Tulear and the Wire Haired Vizsla. The National Dog Show Presented by Purina is one of only a few benched shows in the country. A benched show requires that all entered dogs remain in their designated benching area when not in the ring, being exercised or groomed for the duration of the show. This allows other participants and spectators to visit with the dogs, owners and handlers. The National Dog Show is a perfect example of how a spectator-friendly show allows visitors to learn about different breeds and see how they might fit into their family should they decide to bring a new furry friend into their lives. These two Powder Puff Chinese Crested pups were hamming it up for the camera and their many new fans!

I fell in love at the Westchester Kennel Club dog show yesterday! More than once! Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are one of my most favorite breeds and this little one just stole my heart! How can you not love this sweet face?

I fell in love with Malachy, the Pekingese who won Best in Show at Westminster in 2012 and this is his grandson GCH. Pequest General Tso. David Fitzpatrick and General Tso had a Group 1 at the New Brunswick Kennel Club show in New Jersey over the weekend and he is simply adorable! Congratulations on the win!
