David Fitzpatrick and Pekingese “Rodger” (GCH Yakee Easily Persuaded) make their way around the ring at The National Dog Show Presented by Purina. I love the way that they are looking at one another. In case you missed watching on Thanksgiving, NBC will re-air the show tonight – check your local listings for times in your area. (In my neck of the woods it’s on from 8:00 – 10:00 PM)

I thought this was a puppy until I spoke with the gentleman who was cradling him/her in his arms. It was then that I learned that this is a two-year old Russian Toy. The breed is not yet recognized by the AKC so this little one was at the show as a spectator. How cute is this dog? They come in smooth and long coated varieties and they were developed in the 19th century as companions for the aristocracy. According to their breed club website, they should not weigh more than 6 pounds. This is one tiny pup!
