Monday morning blues!

The Komondor is a working dog from Hungary easily recognizable by their corded coat.  The white cords that usually form by the age of 2 protect the dogs from weather extremes and help them to blend in with the flocks of sheep or cattle that they guard and protect.  What a great breed this is!  It’s definitely not a breed that you see every day at your local dog park, which is precisely why I always encourage my dog-loving friends to visit a dog show in their area!

I love Boxers with natural ears like this one that I photographed at the Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club show earlier this month.  I’m sure there are many folks that will offer a great argument about valid reasons for doing so, but I’m not a big fan of ear cropping, tail docking, debarking and all of the other things done to “improve” the look or behavior of a dog.  I have the same attitude toward cats and so declawing is not an option in my home.  I love them all “just the way they are” so to speak!  John O’Hurley wrote a wonderful poem that he recited at last year’s National Dog Show.  I included an excerpt in my image above, but it you are interested, you can go here http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/the-scene/events/Perfect-Dog-Poem-John-OHurley-National-Dog-Show-179727111.html to read the entire poem.

It was a short but sweet day at the Chester Valley Kennel Club show today in Ludwig’s Corner, Pa.  I was 99% show dog assistant helping one of my friends with her Boxers and only 1% photographer, but still managed a few great photos of beautiful dogs!  This is Lola …L-O-L-A, Lola!  I love her two-toned nose, beautiful coloring and expression!  I only stayed at the show a couple of hours and left after the Boxer judging … right about when the rain began.  Hope to catch up with all of my doggie friends at a future show!

I love absolutely everything about this photo!  How cute that they are chin to chin and looking at one another while sharing a hug before going into the ring!
This image is from the Mason & Dixon Kennel Club show in Harrisburg, Pa. last month.
