I learned an awfully long time ago that you have to be very patient and silent when photographing birds.  Take a step…wait awhile…take a step…wait awhile…etc. as you get closer to the subject.  Brewster has mastered the art of bird watching from the windowsill.  He knows that if he pounces onto the sill, he will scare away any bird that saw him.  So instead, he sits behind the curtain and peeks out of the window … secretly watching the birds and hoping not to be noticed.  (He’s probably secretly licking his chops as well!)

Happy first birthday to my little squirt, Gabriel!  A year ago this month he was born somewhere in Virginia.  A nice person was feeding Gabriel and his mom and siblings for several months.  Unfortunately, that very kind person either passed away or moved and Gabriel and his family were left on their own until someone brought them to an SPCA.  Siamese Cat Rescue Center was contacted because Gabriel was a perfect fit for their program.  Gabriel weighed in at 5 pounds back in November when he arrived at SCRC.  When he came to his forever home a month later, he was up to 7 pounds.  He’s now a happy and healthy 11 pound one year old.  While not at all fond of wearing a cupcake scarf, I told him that it is a birthday tradition and he should at least give it a try.  We are lucky to have any photos at all after the scarf-wearing adventure, but here’s his 1st birthday photo nonetheless!  He is one very loved and spoiled cat!

Congratulations to German Shorthaired Pointer, Scarlet, (GCh./BIS/MBISS Skypoints Our River Runs Free) – Best of Opposite at the GSPCA National this weekend in Harrisburg, Pa.!!  Scarlet is one of my all-time favorite dogs and it was a thrill to watch her compete at the National with handler Laura Kieffer.

I’m finally getting a chance to sort through some of my dog show images.  This is Boomer (MBISS GCH CH BRYNBAR TAMARACK SONIC BOOM JH), a beautiful Gordon Setter photographed at a show earlier this month.  Hope I have an opportunity to see more of this dog at the outdoor shows this season!

Brewster, Savannah and Gabriel are very active Siamese cats and their attention span is short.  They don’t sit still very long for photos.  I rarely see them together like this – close enough to capture all 3 in one image.  They were focused on the wand toy that I was holding and I snapped a very quick photo.  The reason for posting the image is to show their distinct pointed color patterns.  Savannah is a Seal Point Siamese.  She is warm brown in color with very dark brown points (tail, limbs, face and ears).  Brewster is a Blue Point Siamese.  His coat is more of a tan/gray color with darker tan/gray points.  Gabriel is a Lynx Point or Tabby Point Siamese.  He is cream in color with light tan points and stripes.  All 3 have blue eyes.  I must admit, they are all super cute.  They not only have distinct coloring, but they have different and unique personalities as well.
