This election has gone to the dogs … literally!!! At the National Dog Show Charity Walk last month, the dogs were invited to vote for their favorite candidate – Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. A dog bakery provided red and blue cakes and the dogs were let loose to see which was their favorite. Their votes were cast by which cake they chose to eat! Who do you think won the election as chosen by these lovable dogs, Hillary or Donald?

So the plan this year was to dress the Meezers (Sia-meezers) in a caterpillar costume to match one of their favorite toys. How cute would that be, I thought?! They will love it, I thought! The photos will be adorable, I thought! Somehow they weren’t feeling the love for the caterpillar costume as much as I was! Just look at the stink eye and attitude I’m getting from Gabriel on the left! This is his very first Halloween and so the whole costume thing was a new adventure for him. He obviously isn’t a fan! Brewster and Savannah wouldn’t even look at me! Oh well….they still look pretty darn cute and we gave it the old college try anyhow! Wishing everyone a happy Halloween!

So, it’s the day of one of my favorite outdoor dog shows of the season and I’m raring to go and see my friends and photograph lots of beautiful pups. The day dawns and the sun rises. Poop! Outdoor dog show photography in the bright sun is not fun at all. Glare, shadows, blown out highlights, squinting dogs … all problematic from a photography standpoint. Case in point …. these Spinone Italiano twins. The photo above was taken late in the day when the sun was low and they were in the shade. The nice even light is exactly what I want in my dog show photos. Now take a look at the image below of the same dogs taken in the morning light. It’s a great movement shot showing their perfect synchronization, however, the light is awful. Not to mention the crazy busy background which I could not control. Just what I want … yellow caution tape running through the center of an image. I know I can’t control the weather, but I sure do love it when the planets align and the clouds appear on outdoor dog show days!

A fun time was had by all at The National Dog Show Charity Walk today in Wayne, Pa. This cocker spaniel was having an especially good time on the agility course! Wheeeeeeee! I love the flying ears and look of determination on this dog’s face!
