Month: October 2011

My spirits have been pretty low this past week, so I thought a few hours of photography and visiting with friends would help and it did.  I spent part of Saturday at the Devon Kennel Club dog show and met up with my old pal Rufus and his mom and dad, Tom and Barbara.  Rufus is the Colored Bull Terrier who won Best in Show at Westminster in 2006 and he’s quite the superstar.  Now at 11 years of age he still attends shows to cheer on his friends and relatives and does great therapy work around the country.  He’s very sweet, lovable and handsome!  Rufus is one of my all-time favorite dogs and I was so happy to have a chance to see him again!

My sweet angel Tara went to heaven this week after a 2+ year battle with cancer.  She lived 17 happy years and loved nothing more than to sit in the sun on the windowsill and watch the birds, butterflies, chippies and squirrels in the yard.  I am heartbroken but know that she is in heaven and reunited with my dad and her brother Socrates.  I am sure they welcomed her with open arms and are so happy to see her again.  Sebastian and I miss her terribly but will always keep her memory in our hearts.  Rest peacefully sweet Tara.

I haven’t seen deer in my yard in a very long time.  Before homes were built on either side of my property, they used to come through regularly.  I don’t know if they have altered their path or if there are just less deer in the neighborhood.  While making dinner this afternoon I glanced out the kitchen window and saw this doe along with one of her babies munching on the plants in my back yard.  Isn’t she beautiful?  I guess this could explain why I didn’t have so many flowers this year!  🙂  I sure didn’t want to scare her off because I love seeing wildlife in my yard.  I grabbed my camera and managed a few quick images before they moved back into the woods.  What a treat to see them today!  I hope they enjoyed their dinner in my flower garden!

I’m lovin’ the lighting on this image.  The photo was taken indoors with just the natural light streaming in through windows and an open door.  What a sweet little Havanese!
