Does this look like the face of a swimmer?  Not so much!  This  little pup’s owner wanted him or her to try dock diving and the dog just wasn’t so much into the idea of jumping into the water after a toy!  I’ll bet he or she is thinking, “If this is what I have to do to get this ball, it’s NOT worth it!”  🙂

The winner of the Pawsabilities 2013 Doggie Costume Contest, that’s who!!!!   Can you even stand the cuteness of this Golden Retriever pup dressed as Big Bird?  Out of the myriad of adorable dogs in the costume contest, this dog won by popular vote of the crowd in attendance!  There were SO MANY great costumes – it was almost impossible to pick a favorite!  They all deserved to win!  Just seeing so many dogs wearing costumes and not trying to pull them off was amazing to me!  Start planning your dog’s costume and mark your calendar to attend “Pawsabilities” in Harrisburg, Pa. next year!

One of the activities at Pawsabilties 2013 (http://www.pawsabilities.net/) was a Flyball demonstration.  Wow – can these dogs FLY!  I’ve never seen Flyball before, but I found it to be so much fun to watch!  Two courses were set up side by side and the dogs competed against one another in their own lane.  The dogs must race over the four hurdles to the end of the 51′ course where there is a flyball box.  When the dog steps on the box, a tennis ball flies out, which they must catch and then race back over the hurdles to the starting point.  The dogs LOVED this activity!  It was fun and challenging to photograph, too!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending “Pawsabilities” – an event to benefit Susquehanna Service dogs – in Harrisburg, Pa.  Pawsabilities is held annually and is a two-day event  where you and your canine best friend can participate in fun activities together.  All this week I’ll be posting Pawsabilities photos that show some of the activities and participants.  For me, today’s blog image totally sums up the purpose of the event which is to support Susquehanna Service Dogs.  This wonderful organization trains and provides service and hearing dogs to persons that are physically challenged, improving their lives and helping them to become more independent.  It’s a win-win situation for both the dog and their person!  You can see the love and trust that the person has in the dog who is assisting them and the dog wants nothing more than to perform the job that they were trained to do.

….if dogs know how adorable they really are???!!!   This dog could chew my bunny slippers into a million pieces and I would do nothing else but smother him or her with kisses!   How can you not love a face like THIS??!!
