Do you remember any of these bottling/beverage companies from days gone by?  This was a sign posted at a vendor stand that was selling drinks at The Bloomsburg Fair.  I’m always interested in seeing how companies represent their brand, so all of the different logos, color choices and font styles caught my eye.  A logo is a company’s face to the world – their identity.  It can be memorable and long-lasting or it can be blah!  It can have graphics or just be a type style.  It can have no words at all and yet everyone recognizes it as the logo of a particular company.  For example, the Nike swoosh.  Who doesn’t recognize that corporate trademark?  And more currently – the Facebook logo – just a simple blue square with a white “f” inside.  Simple, but totally identifiable!

There are plenty of photo opportunities in Lancaster County, Pa:  beautiful farms, rolling hills, horse and buggies, quaint villages, and more.  The challenge is often finding a place to pull over and photograph.  Most roads look like this one – narrow, winding, and with no where to pull off on the side of the road.  What to do?  In this case, my option was to stop dead in the middle of the road, put the 4-way flashing lights on, get out of the car and take photos!  Thankfully there were no other cars coming in either direction and I managed to take the shot I wanted.  Pretty as a picture!

Gabriel was just a little kitten living in Virginia last year at this time.  I don’t know his exact circumstances, but I’m sure life was difficult for him and his brothers and sisters.  They were given up for adoption in November and Gabriel found his way to Siamese Cat Rescue Center and eventually to his forever home with us.  Now he loves to sit by the window and watch the falling leaves.  As soon as dawn breaks, he runs to the window and his little head moves from side to side as he watches leaves float from the big oak trees in the yard.  He paws at the glass in an attempt to catch them.  I wonder if he chased leaves when he was living outside on those cold late Fall days last year in Virginia?  Now he is content to watch from his safe spot indoors on the window sill or on one of our cat perches.  His brother and sister often join him.  Above is one of his favorite spots in the big dining room window.  Below is a photo of him sitting by the French doors and showing off his beautiful blue eyes.  No, there was no Photoshop involved in enhancing the color.  His eyes are really that blue!

This election has gone to the dogs … literally!!!  At the National Dog Show Charity Walk last month, the dogs were invited to vote for their favorite candidate – Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.  A dog bakery provided red and blue cakes and the dogs were let loose to see which was their favorite.  Their votes were cast by which cake they chose to eat!  Who do you think won the election as chosen by these lovable dogs, Hillary or Donald?

I love photographing the beautiful farms and soft rolling hills of Lancaster County, Pa.  My dad loved to paint landscapes.  I remember him telling me as he painted that he had to be sure that the mountains, hills or trees toward the back of his scene were always softer and lighter in color than those in the front.  You can really see how true that is in this image. The foreground trees are crisp and vivid and the farms and hills looking from foreground to background continue to look lighter and less defined.  Fall in Lancaster County, Pa. is one of the prettiest places on earth!
