Month: June 2017

There is still time to get out to Codorus Blast today (near York, Pa) to see the Keystone Dock Dog event.  There are Big Air and Speed Retrieve waves running throughout the day.  I had a fun time photographing these athletic dogs on Friday and Saturday and I will say that photographing dogs that move this fast is one of the toughest things I have ever photographed.  You have to follow the dog running on the dock, anticipate the height they will achieve as they jump, continue moving the camera as they splash into the water and keep everything in focus all at the same time.  I hope for a few good images after shooting thousands of frames!  This is an early favorite as I’m downloading my memory cards today.

My favorite week in the garden is right now … when the honeysuckle is in full bloom.
Oh so fragrant!

Everyone has their eye on the toy!  This is Tara from Team Blackout launching from the dock at Steel Stacks last weekend.  Tara is wearing a Super Fly suit embroidered with her name!  I must say, all of the dogs wearing Super Fly suits looked adorable and helped me to distinguish one from the other.  Having their name embroidered on the side was even better!  I love this photo!

If you love to photograph grunge … most especially rust and decrepitude … then Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, Pa. is the place for you!  Steel Stacks is home to the iron furnaces of Bethlehem Steel – the now closed facility that employed thousands and manufactured iron for our nation’s buildings and bridges.  The location is now a destination centered around the arts and last weekend an outdoor festival that included Keystone Dock Dogs.  What a contrast to see the soft and furry dogs with a background of the blast furnaces!

I just finished downloading the last of my dock dog photos from the weekend.  Gosh, there are LOTS – over 1500!  Which to post?!  I’ll pick the ones that grab my attention first, like this one.  It’s all about the tennis ball!
