I was out running errands yesterday and it was a beautiful Spring-like day with amazing clouds. There are several farms that I pass regularly and I have always wanted to stop and photograph them but never had the opportunity. I decided that yesterday was the day….and the wonderful clouds gave me even more incentive. Usually there are cows grazing on this farm, but they weren’t outside yesterday. Since I love cows, I was a little disappointed. Maybe next time!

Holy cow … was it ever foggy here today! We had a bit of snow overnight, followed by rain, followed by fog….typical for March in Pennsylvania. It was 75 degrees outside on Friday and today it snowed! Happy Spring everyone! 🙂 When I got home from work and looked through the window into my back yard, I saw this one lone oak leaf dangling from the branch of a dead evergreen tree. It caught my eye and so I felt it deserved to be photographed. Despite the very harsh winter, with snow, ice, heavy rain, and serious wind, this oak leaf somehow managed to fall from the tree above and become attached to an evergreen branch. Oak leaves are very hardy and are always the last to drop. I still have several trees with many oak leaves still on them from last Fall. I converted this image to black and white, keeping just the leaf in color. I fooled around with some additional zoom-blur to create the final image.

Pennsylvania – and much of the Northeast – was inundated with rain yesterday. My area received somewhere between 3″ and 5″ in 24 hours. It was insane. Thank goodness for my waterproofing system or else my basement would be under water right now. When I go outside of my house I can hear fast moving water which is flowing like crazy in a creek behind my neighbor’s house. I can’t see the creek so I don’t know if it flooded, but it sure sounds mennacing. Today’s blog image fits with the soggy mud that fills my yard and driveway as it features a dog and handler at the Devon Kennel Club Dog Show last fall. The ground beneath the tents was really muddy as we had some rain just before the show. I really think that if it’s bad enough for the handlers to be wearing boots, then the dogs should be wearing them, too! 🙂

This little English Toy Spaniel seems to be comparing chin fur with his owner to see whose is longer….I think the pooch wins…by a hair. Titling this post brought to mind a very old commercial for Ken-L-Ration dog food with a jingle that just sticks in your head….forever! “My dog’s better than your dog. My dog’s better than yours. My dog’s better ’cause he gets Ken-L-Ration, my dog’s better than yours!” Here’s a link so you can listen and have this little tune stuck in your head forever, too!

Okay now…everybody sing along….”My fur’s longer than your fur. My fur’s longer than yours……” !!!

Walker the Toy Poodle is a tech savvy pooch who has his own Facebook page! There is just something about poodles that makes them fun to photograph….I guarantee it’s the haircut! If you’ve ever watched a poodle being groomed, then you know how much work is involved in creating their unique look. Hairspray is definitely involved! This image of Walker is from the Valley Forge Kennel Club dog show last year. Handler Kaz Hosaka and Walker always impress in the show ring!
