One of Tara’s favorite spots is the windowsill in the living room. It’s a large bow window that overlooks the front yard and there is plenty of bird activity to keep her entertained. She is usually napping, but somehow she senses when a neighbor walks by with their dog and then she’s all eyes & ears. Tara was rescued from an animal shelter and I always wonder what her life was like before we adopted her. She was brought to the shelter after being found walking the city streets one cold January. Did she encounter dogs in her travels? How did she find food and shelter? Did she run away from a loving home? She was several years old, but only 4 pounds that March day when my dad and I met her. Now she is a princess who will never have to fear the cold or lack of food again. Napping on the windowsill in the sun and sitting on the couch and watching TV are her favorite pasttimes…lucky girl!

My recent hard drive crash and subsequent retrieval of files has made me realize just HOW many images I keep. Practically all of them. I know, I know….that’s probably not the best idea because it takes up a ton of hard drive space. Add to that the fact that I bracket a lot for HDR, which triples [or more!] the number of shots. BUT, it’s fun to go back through old files to see what I can find and work with later. Like this scene from last October. Now that I’ve given it a second look and worked on it a bit, I think it’s a keeper. P.S. Let me know if you find any good sales on external hard drives! 🙂

I tend to photograph windows quite often. I’m intrigued by them. Windows tell a story about the people who live inside. What type of window treatments have they chosen? Are the curtains open or closed? Did they place unique items on the windowsill? What is on the outside of the window? In this case, you can see that the owner loves color! Lime green shutters and pretty red geraniums! What do the windows on your house say about you? [Mine probably say it’s time to get outside with the Windex!] 🙂

Our pets have it made. This was Sebastian’s day:
- wake up at 7:00 AM, stretch, and meow loudly
- have a drink of water
- go lay in the sun on the windowsill
- eat breakfast
- go back for a catnap in the bedroom for the rest of the day
What a life! I on the other hand spent the better part of the day reloading data that was recovered from my old computer. I’d rather be catnapping!

The tulips were starting to wilt, so I just HAD to photograph them one more time. Soon the bulbs will be planted in the garden and next year I can photograph them all over again! Whoo hoo! These were shot indoors with the Lensbaby Composer and Soft Focus Optic. So which do you prefer….landscape or portrait?
