Month: May 2010

Before I cut the grass on Saturday I spent a little while photographing dandelions…one of my favorite subjects.  This one had a tiny flower ready to fly off in the breeze.  The good news is that there is an endless supply of dandelions [and other assorted weeds!] in my garden, so I’ll never run out of subjects, even if I do lose a few to the lawnmower upon occasion!

This pretty flower grew out of a planter that last year contained nothing but weeds.  I’m not sure what it is or where it came from, but it was worthy of photographing with the Lensbaby Composer and soft focus optic.  I wonder what other surprises I’ll find in the garden this year.  I’m awaiting delivery of an order of 100 flower bulbs – iris, gladiola, oriental lilies, purple liatris, and montbretia.  I will have my work cut out for me when they arrive, but I’m sure to have plenty to photograph this summer….fingers crossed!

Say hi to Rufus, a 13-week old Spinone Italiano puppy who I photographed last weekend with his family.  He’s a true sporting dog, displaying his hunting and retrieving skills every chance that he gets.  He loved playing in the leaves, drinking from a stream, fetching sticks, and he even went for his first swim in the lake.  It was amazing how he took to the water so quickly and immediately perfected his “doggie paddle”.  To see more photos of Rufus and his family, visit:  http://www.betsydallasphoto.com/Rufus.html
