Yesterday I posted an image and asked visitors to guess the breed of dog that I photographed.  Here’s the image:  http://betsydallasphoto.com/WordPressNew/?p=5335  How many of you were correct?  This is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  Very close looking to a German Wirehaired Pointer, but in reading about both breeds, I learned that yellow eyes in the GWP are not desirable.  This dog has beautiful yellow eyes, characteristic of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  This breed has been called “the 4-wheel drive of hunting dogs” because they enter briars and underbrush without hesitation.  They are pointers in the field and retrievers in the water.  Such a sweet look, don’t you think?

Can you guess what breed this is?  Answer tomorrow!!  No hints!  🙂

We have all used Static Guard on our clothes to prevent static buildup and cling, especially in winter, right?  Well, there are LOTS of other uses for this handy product…apparently using it on your dog is one of them!  I found a list of uses on the Static Guard website here:  http://www.mystaticguard.com/static-guard-tips-uses/tips-index.cfm  and one of them says to spray it on your comb or brush to prevent fly-away hair!  You can also spray it on clothing or furniture, wait one minute, and brushing away pet hair will be a breeze.  Who knew?  P.S.  The dog in this image is a Powder Puff Chinese Crested….the variety with hair.  The hairless Chinese Crested wouldn’t have as much use for Static Guard!  🙂

Mother Nature has been brutal this summer in my neck of the woods.  First there was a hail storm in late May that damaged homes and cars, then a horrific storm in early July with wind shear that took down 1,500 trees in my community and left us without power.  September has brought Hurricane Irene and just this past week, the remnants of tropical storm Lee which caused torrential rains and flooding.  Today I needed to go out and take a walk to try and appreciate the beauty in the world around me and de-stress.  The lake was very peaceful – just a couple people on the beach and a boat or two on the water .  Soon these boats will be removed and the docks pulled in preparation for winter.  I hope to enjoy the last days of summer here as much as I can!

Wow – I have a MUCH better view of everything from up here on mom’s lap!!!  Being a little Chihuahua with short legs means that all I usually see are feet, grass, and chair legs from my low-to-the-ground point of view!  Here I am all comfy on my mom’s lap watching the other dogs in the ring at the dog show!  Fun stuff!  I have it made!!
