The Komondor is a working dog from Hungary easily recognizable by their corded coat. The white cords that usually form by the age of 2 protect the dogs from weather extremes and help them to blend in with the flocks of sheep or cattle that they guard and protect. What a great breed this is! It’s definitely not a breed that you see every day at your local dog park, which is precisely why I always encourage my dog-loving friends to visit a dog show in their area!

One of my most favorite flowers is the water lily and I am fortunate enough to have a small pond in the garden with one plant that produces several blooms each summer. The first water lily opened yesterday and I was anxious to go out and photograph the flower as they only last a few days. So bright and early this morning I went outside, hoping to grab a few shots before the sun became too harsh. I lasted about 3 minutes in the garden before the pesky cicadas began to fly at me. See, the cicadas have very good eyesight – they have 5 eyes! – but they seem to think that everything that they land on is a tree. Dear cicadas …. I am NOT a tree!! So, after only a few photographs, I headed back inside as even though they are harmless, I would not be a happy camper if a cicada landed on me! I was pleased with this image and thought it deserved a spot on the blog! Hopefully the next time a flower opens the cicadas will be gone and I’ll have ample opportunity to photograph!

Brydon is a beautiful Golden Retriever who I have the pleasure of photographing from time to time, which I absolutely LOVE! (GCH. Steadmor’s Take A Gander) He is very handsome and loves having his velvety ears rubbed. He just closes his eyes and you can almost hearing him whispering, “Ahhhhhh…..!” I think that this image encourages the viewer to think about the person on the other end of the lead – who is it? Is the person holding a hot dog to get Brydon’s attention? Or maybe a squeaky toy? You can just tell that his eyes are focused on something or someone out of frame and I like that it leaves you wondering!

This is “Eli”, “BIS MBISS GCH. Nexus Total Eclipse”, basking in the late afternoon sunlight at the Bryn Mawr Kennel Club show last weekend. I fell in love with the Clumber Spaniel back in 1996 when “Brady”, ” Ch. Clussexx Country Sunrise”, won Best in Show at Westminster. Do you remember the photo of Brady with his mouth full of tennis balls? It was a great image! Dear Clumber Spaniel handlers …. next time I see you at a show, can I have permission to give your dog a big hug?!!!

Here’s Norfolk Terrier “Ryder”, “GCH. Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride”, with handler Roxanne Sutton at the Bryn Mawr Kennel Club show last weekend. Roxanne was wearing the prettiest summer dress and it just flowed in the breeze as she and Ryder went around the ring. I like that the dress adds an “artsy” flair to this image. I cropped off some of the bottom of the photo where there was just more grass, but my intent in photographing was to capture the movement of the dog and the movement of the pretty colorful dress. I admire all of the handlers for looking so nice despite some often less than perfect conditions. The weather was great at Ludwig’s Corner, but there was a lot of mud under the tents. My poor white sneakers – even after scrubbing – are still a little rough looking!
