Everything about this Pomeranian is adorable! I can’t resist the Pom’s tiny little ears, fluffy coat, and those little whiskers! Cute, cute, cute!! This image is from the Chester Valley Kennel Club Show earlier this month in Ludwig’s Corner, Pa.

A sea of flags and flowers spread across the cemetery is a vivid reminder of the reason for Memorial Day. It has nothing to do with a day off from work, picnics, or fireworks. The day is meant to solemnly remember those who gave their lives for our country. Each one was a beloved son, daughter, parent, or friend and they shall never be forgotten.

“We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.”
– Moina Michael
Moina Michael conceived the idea of wearing a red poppy on Memorial Day in honor of those who died serving our country. It’s a wonderful tradition, now carried on by members of the VFW and American Legion, with proceeds assisting disabled and hospitalized veterans. Buy a poppy this weekend and wear it in honor of our veterans!

Photographers are always on the lookout for repeating patterns to photograph. An interesting quote on the topic written by David Peterson is: “Patterns are to photography, what rhythm is to music. Repeating patterns, if captured the right way, strengthen an image. Ten pillars on a porch, a hundred umbrellas on the beach, a thousand bricks on a wall and a million petals on a field… repetition takes on a life of its own.” I think I hit the jackpot with patterns in this image!

One of the most important animal photography tips is to focus on the eyes and try to capture the “catchlight”. The catchlight is that bright little sparkle in the eye that reflects from a light source when you are photographing. It brings the image to life! With some breeds that is just more difficult than with others……! 🙂
