Half the fun of visiting Hope Hill Lavender Farm is visiting with the Donks – Jose, Gomez and Maurice!  Here they are watching the rain from inside their stall over the weekend when Hope Hill had their Mother’s Day lavender plant sale.  The farm store was open and Wendy and Troy had the BEST Parmesan & Lavender Roasted Tomato Soup to warm everyone up on a chilly and rainy day!  Yummy!

I accomplished a bucket list item recently when I visited Conowingo Dam in Maryland to see and photograph bald eagles.  Late Fall is the prime eagle viewing time at the dam, but I was certainly not disappointed during my visit.  There were bald eagles everywhere!  Unfortunately, I don’t have any great shots of eagles diving into the river for fish up close and personal as they were all pretty far away.  BUT, I was in awe seeing that many in one place at one time!  Take a look at this image and see how many eagles you can spot!  I count 13!  Maybe you’ll find some that I didn’t see!

I was fortunate to catch a glimpse (and a photo or two!) of a Snowy Egret standing on a branch in a dead tree at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.  Love these birds!

Earlier this year I was at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area photographing the amazing migration of snow geese.  Standing next to me was a mom with her little girl, who was taking photos as the thousands upon thousands of geese took to flight from the lake.  Photographers were lined up, many with massive lenses on tripods, all snapping images of the spectacular scene unfolding in front of us.  I overheard the mom ask the little girl to put down her camera and instead, “See with your eyes”.   She explained that this was a time that she wanted her daughter to fully experience and appreciate and not spend that moment trying to take photos.  She wanted her little girl to completely immerse herself in what was happening around her.  I am guilty of putting the photo before the experience and hearing this mom ask her daughter to “See with your eyes” reminded me take a step back, put down the camera, and appreciate fully whatever it is that is before me.  Our memories are like snapshots.  We may not have a digital image to remind us of a moment, but we will always have the memory that we have seen with our eyes.

I would love it if ALL trees had pink, purple and white flowers in Spring before the leaves emerged.  Sort of like Fall, only in reverse.
