Industrial Quarter, Bethlehem, Pa.

Historic Moravian Bethlehem, Pa. is proud to have two national historic landmarks.  One is the 1762 Waterworks located in the Colonial Industrial Quarter. The Waterworks  is America’s first pumped municipal water system.  The Industrial Quarter is situated alongside the Monocacy Creek and was at one time home to a tannery, blacksmith, dye house, mill, and springhouse. Tours are offered by appointment but the grounds are open for visitors to view the historic architecture and imagine what life was like back when hard work was conducted in these buildings by the Moravians to support the growing community.

When you are thinking about adding a new furry family member to your home, please don’t overlook the dogs and cats that are available through shelters and rescues.  There are SO MANY homeless animals that need your love and care and are just waiting for a family to call their own.   There is nothing more heart warming than knowing that you saved the life of a dog or cat that otherwise would not have a home.  This sweet pup was looking for love at The National Dog Show Presented by Purina last month.  I hope and pray that he has a new family that loves him!

My camera has a device inside that automatically focuses on people kissing their dogs!   🙂
[Oh how I wish that were true!  It’s more like I just happen to be pointing the camera in the right direction at the right time….luck!]

I think I just heard a collective “Awwwww!” for this little cutie-pie!

My most favorite flower is the water lily.  Back before dog photography became my passion, I spent quite a lot of time photographing at the Longwood Gardens water lily ponds in Kennett Square, Pa.  It’s still a place I dearly love visiting, even though I haven’t been there for several years.  I have a small pond in my garden with one water lily plant.  It’s the treasure of my garden even though it only produces 3 or 4 flowers each summer.  They appear for a very short time so photo opportunities are limited.  On top of the small number of flowers, there is also the fact that the blossoms are closed when I leave for work in the morning, open during the day, and closed again by the time I get home.  So unless the flowers are in bloom on a weekend, I don’t get to enjoy them very much.  When I came home for lunch yesterday, I glanced out of the window and there was a beautiful water lily waiting to greet me.  I grabbed my camera and took a few images before heading back to work.  This is one of them – converted to black and white.  The flowers are a very light yellow with a deeper yellow center.  Just lovely!
