I’m a huge fan of soft focus flowers and I love my Lensbaby Velvet 56 for flower photography!  Today I found this Winky Blue and White Columbine at the Garden Center and just had to bring it home.  Columbine is one of my most favorite flowers!  Hopefully this little flower will find a new home in my garden for years to come!

Longwood Gardens is a heavenly place to spend a cold winter day!  Entering the conservatory after a brisk walk through the outdoor gardens is always a delight to the senses.  The warmth, vivid colors, and sweet fragrance of the flowers make my heart sing!  This is an image from the Acacia Passage inside the conservatory.  This time of year the feathery foliage of the Acacia leprosa trees in this walkway bloom with yellow flowers. This photo was taken in Spring but was equally as beautiful when the area featured these baskets of pink flowers.

I don’t remember flowers blooming in October when I was a kid.  I don’t even remember buying Fall mums to decorate our porch.  Once Labor Day arrived, summer was officially over!  But these days summer weather continues and our gardens are still colorful well into Fall.  I will hang on to every last ounce of that for as long as I can.  Here’s a beautiful Dahlia photographed with the Lensbaby Velvet 56.

I love gazebos and this is an especially pretty one.  The location isn’t bad either!  I was initially drawn to this spot when I noticed trees with vivid yellow leaves as I was driving past and so I had to find my way in for a closer look.  When I arrived, the gazebo and red barn were a pleasant surprise!  There is a nice butterfly garden here as well.  It was a worthwhile “Whoa, stop!” moment!

One of my most favorite places in the whole world is the water lily display at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa.  I could spend DAYS there photographing the lotus and water lilies.  The flowers bloom from late May through mid-October, so if you want to see them, you are running short on time.  I think this variety is called Nymphaea Aquarius.  I love the combination of purple and sunshine yellow!  How can you not smile when you see beautiful flowers like this?
