Back in January I posted an image of this very barn nestled in a snowy landscape.  Click here to view the previous image.  Today’s blog image was taken a few weeks ago after the last of the snow had melted, but before the Spring color arrives.  I’ve been wanting to photograph this scene for quite a while, but the light was just never the way I envisioned it in my mind.  On this day, however, the late afternoon sun was in the perfect spot to highlight the barn.  Snap…snap…snap…..mission accomplished!

Rodale Cycling & Fitness Park in Trexlertown, Pa. has a wonderful 3-lane looping track for bicycles, roller blades, and walkers.  There is also a nice nature trail through the woods.   I’ve walked the track many times and it’s 1 mile long on the outer loop and .6 miles on the inner.  Nice and flat, too!  I had my camera along last time and took a few photos along the way, including this one where you can see the repeating lanes of the track … slow walkers on the left, roller blades in the middle, and fast bikes to the right.

I was out running errands yesterday and it was a beautiful Spring-like day with amazing clouds.  There are several farms that I pass regularly and I have always wanted to stop and photograph them but never had the opportunity.  I decided that yesterday was the day….and the wonderful clouds gave me even more incentive.  Usually there are cows grazing on this farm, but they weren’t outside yesterday.  Since I love cows, I was a little disappointed.   Maybe next time!

Park bench and trees covered with ice.

The groundhog lied.  He told us that we would have an early Spring and here it is, the end of March and we’re still having snow and ice.  Wednesday I awoke to find about 4″ of heavy wet snow on the ground and during the day we had rain and sleet.  On Thursday everything was covered in ice.  I have to admit, it was beautiful.  The trees were blanketed first with snow and then covered with shimmering ice.  I took a few images in my yard and on the way home from work, but they really don’t do justice to how pretty everything looked.

The Mausoleum

Dang groundhog….early Spring my foot!!  Here it is, March 23rd, and we have snow on the ground yet again!  The snow definitely did “drop” today….and it dropped on my cute little “Snow Drop” flowers that finally came to life in the garden last week.  The image above is a scene from my back yard that shows the various stages of tree growth.  I have some beautiful evergreens that are full and lush, and then some that have totally lost all of their needles.  Some of my giant Oak trees are still hanging onto their leaves from last year, adding some color to the landscape.  All of them were blanketed with a wet heavy snow today so I had to take a few minutes and go out with my camera.  The image above was taken with the Lensbaby Composer and soft focus optic then processed with an oil painting effect.  The image below is one of my Snow Drop flowers, still wet from the snow and rain.  It was taken with my 100mm macro lens and processed with a watercolor effect.  Looks like more snow is on the way tonight…..good grief!  🙁
