Just when you think that summer is coming to an end, a bright pink flower appears in the garden for the first bloom of the season!  I don’t know the name of these, but they look like miniature lilies and bloom in mid-August.  They are definitely worth waiting all season to see.  This is a very abstract version photographed with the Lensbaby 3G.

My very favorite lens for macro flower photography is the Lensbaby.  I still love the 3G model with the macro attachments and soft focus filter for nature photos.  What this lens can do to soften the background is amazing!  Thank you Jim and Michelle for letting me “borrow” your coneflowers!

Why is there a part of me that still believes I can go out in the yard to photograph and not be eaten alive by bugs?  You would think I’d have learned by now that it’s not humanly possible!

I’ve tried to grow coneflowers on several occasions without success.  My next door neighbors, however, have lovely blooms alongside their driveway.  Hope they don’t mind that I visited to photograph them!

Every now and again I have a chance to do some flower photography right in my own back yard.  Currently the honeysuckle is in bloom and calling me to not only photograph, but just enjoy the delightful fragrance.  Last month the Bleeding Hearts were commanding my attention.
