As I was driving home this afternoon, I saw a familiar sight in the distance and immediately recognized the flight pattern of snow geese!  It was dusk and they were returning to the fields to roost for the night.  I was totally unprepared to photograph them, but was on my way home from a super fun puppy photo shoot, so I had some gear in the car.  I had heard that there were snow geese in various areas of the Lehigh Valley, but have never ventured out to look for them.   I drove in the direction of the geese, following them in the sky until I came upon the field where they were landing.  I had a few minutes of unexpected fun photographing the geese in a brand new location!  This one is a favorite – snow geese silhouetted against the sky at dusk.

This wreath and the row of trees caught my eye one day last week when I was driving on the road alongside the cemetery.  I forgot about it until the snow came over the weekend and then I decided to take a ride and see if my vision was what I expected when I was in the cemetery and closer to the subject.  Seeing all of the Christmas wreaths with bright red bows decorating the graves reminds of those I am missing this holiday season … and every day of the year.

Wishing everyone, near and far, a happy, healthy New Year!

I don’t recall scooters being popular in my neighborhood when I was a kid.  My friends and I were more into bikes and roller skates … the old fashioned skates that fit over your shoes and had a key!  I always had boo boos on my knees from falling when learning to roller skate on the bumpy sidewalks!  Today I often see kids tooling around on scooters.  They look like fun and there are probably no training wheels required!  🙂

The winter landscape is filled with texture and, as in this image, the contrast of both warm and cool colors.  The orange plants in the foreground are what caught my eye in this scene and really make the image pop.
