For as long as I stood chatting with one of the guides at the reenactment on Saturday, this woman sat motionless.  There was a “battle” going on nearby with gunfire and she didn’t even flinch.  I found the entire situation to be quite interesting.  It was early afternoon and very warm and humid.  Perhaps she was resting beneath the tree and hoping for a cool breeze.  I asked the guide how the reenactors endured in their heavy costumes in such warm weather.  He said that people today are wimps compared to our ancestors who had no fans or air conditioning.  He’s right!  We are so spoiled today.  I’ll try and remember this next time I start to whine about the heat and humidity….

I come upon dogs to photograph just about everywhere I go!  Here at the Civil War reenactment, I was SUPPOSED to be listening to an explanation on what the “troops” were doing, but instead I was busy photographing this cool boxer.  He came with his family and was totally intrigued by the horses.  He just wanted to go and play with them … even though they were 10 times his size.  He finally gave up on the horses when this cute little baby came by to pet him.  I think the baby was a little bit afraid of the dog…especially when it was time for some doggie kisses!

Yes!  I can photograph other things than dogs, cats, and flowers!  Today I went to a Civil War reenactment in Whitehall, Pa. – an event I’ve never attended before.  There were TONS of opportunities to photograph people in period clothing, still life scenes, action battlefield shots, etc.  I found myself drawn to the little details as I walked among the campsites of the troops.  This photo was taken as “President Abraham Lincoln” addressed the country.  I don’t believe I took one image of his face, as I was concentrating on his hands as they clutched his big black stove pipe hat.  There are some interesting photos in my collection from today, so I think I will be adding a page of images from the reenactment to my website.

Last weekend I photographed a beautiful Spinone Italiano puppy and his family.  The goal was to capture photos of the puppy with the children.  We found a spot that was filled with dandelions and the girls had fun running through the flowers and sending all of the petals into the wind.  It made for some fun shots….like this one.  Stay tuned for photos of “Rufus”!

This character actor was on hand at an event where he was teaching kids about local history.  His face and expression had so much character that I just had to photograph him.
