Yes, I am absolutely counting the days until Spring!  I can’t wait!  Birds singing, flowers blooming, a warm breeze, and driving with the sunroof open!  That’s what I call a perfect day!  It won’t be long….we just have to endure a few more snowstorms and some cold weather, but we can do it!  Just think of the cold and snowy weather as a temporary inconvenience!

Every now and again I have a chance to do some flower photography right in my own back yard.  Currently the honeysuckle is in bloom and calling me to not only photograph, but just enjoy the delightful fragrance.  Last month the Bleeding Hearts were commanding my attention.

I love Bleeding Hearts and am happy to report that the plant that I added to my garden last Spring is flourishing!  The problem, however, is that as I get older, it’s more difficult to get down on the ground to photograph them.  Maybe I’m just out of practice!  I hope this plant gets nice and tall (or that I somehow become more limber) so that photographing these beauties isn’t such a challenge!

My dad was an artist.  He loved oil, acrylic and watercolor painting and spent many hours creating art that now hangs in my home.  We used to take day trips on weekends and when he saw something that he might like to paint, I would photograph the scene and he would use the image as a basis for creating his art, always adding special touches to make it his own.  When I saw this woman painting the dogwood trees on location at the park, it reminded me of my dad.  He would have loved this spot and in my mind he was there with his easel and paints, creatively capturing the colors of Spring on his canvas.
