As we celebrate this Memorial Day, remember that today is not about barbecues and fireworks. The day is meant for honoring all of the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom. My dad was a Marine during World War II and I will never ever forget the stories that he told me about the tragedy he witnessed and the pain and suffering he endured to help keep America free. God bless all who serve our country!

I love visiting the garden center in Spring. I’ve been there 3 or 4 times already this season and have come home with not only top soil, but a few new treasures for my garden – Bleeding Heart, Columbine and Iris plants. The other day I took along my Olympus point & shoot camera in the hopes of capturing the feeling of the garden center overflowing with spring color. Along the way I found this still life scene and thought it would be fun to process with a bit of a watercolor effect. This scene just says Springtime to me! P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms and doggie-moms!

Shoes and diamonds, of course! Or…shoes encrusted with diamonds! Need I say more?
[Okay, maybe I’d add chocolate to the list!]

I photographed a wedding today and it was so much fun! Before going to the bride’s home, I went to the reception hall and did some shooting before the crowd arrived. This is a Lensbaby image of the engraved glass and bottle of wine. I tried out a new diffuser for my Canon 430 flash today and am very pleased with the results. It’s a Rogue Flash Bender and it did a super job of softening the light – both indoors and outside for fill. Nothing like experimenting with new equipment when photographing such an important event, huh? 🙂

Glasses turned upside down on a white tablecloth + the sun = some pretty nifty shadows. This image was photographed with the Lensbaby 3G at an outdoor wedding.
